The media, culture, and graphics sector spans a vast array of industries, including TV and radio, motion pictures, publishing, as well as live and recorded performances. The sector is integral to distributing media content and facilitating entertainment activities. In the last years, digitalization has changed the way in which content is produced and distributed, resulting in new business models and remuneration systems which are revolutionizing the whole industry. In the recent years, the ILO has focused on the impact of digitalization on employment, on issues around violence and harassment in the entertainment industry, as well as on decent work deficits, with particular attention to gaps in access to social protection. Current efforts aimed at assessing the employment effects of digitalization, globalization and demographic shifts in the sector, with particular attention to the press, broadcasting, and the music and film industries, also as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Technical meeting on the future of work in the arts and entertainment sector
The meeting discussed opportunities and challenges for decent work in the sector in the context of digital technologies, globalization, environmental sustainability, demographic changes and a human-centred COVID-19 recovery.

The World of Sports
Professional sports have become a major industry, providing inspiration, entertainment and employment to millions. Professional athletes are at the heart of this industry, and there has been increasing attention to the human and labour rights of athletes who compete in professional sporting events. Drawing on the Points of Consensus of the Global Dialogue Forum on Decent Work in the World of Sport, the ILO promotes social dialogue, respect for international labour standards, and capacity development for all constituents in the world of sport.
